Edinburg Vela defeated San Antonio Taft 27-24  in the area championship to advance the regional championship.

Vela 12-0 will travel to Corpus Christy to play Austin Vandegrift 11-1 in a third round late November matchup on the gridiron of the Texas High School Football Playoffs.

Kickoff for the contest is 4 p.m. on Friday November 26 at at Cabaniss Athletic Complex in Corpus Christi.

Vela is the only Valley team left in the Region IV 6A Division II Texas High School Championships.

 Austin Vandegrift defeated Cibolo-Steele 38-0 in its area playoff game.
