EDINBURG — We had caught up with Bryan Becerra who recently helped area soccer team United 956 to the US Soccer Club’s 2024 National Championship. Here is what he had to say about his recent success on the field.

Q: When did you know you wanted to play soccer, and how hard did work you to get to the level you are at now?
A: Since I was little to be honest I’ve always wanted to play soccer, and well when I met Martin and he asked me to join the team (coach), I knew there was something special about this team I couldn’t miss out on.
Q: What is your most memorable moment as a player this season?
A: Winning nationals
Q: What was it like for you traveling the country and winning it all?
A: I felt like us as a team we just had to represent where were from and show out.
Q: What was your biggest challenge on the way to the championship?
A: The referee
Q: Tell us what you were feeling and thinking about heading into the championship game?
A: I was just thinking revenge over and over they caught us by surprise and beat us the 1st game but we were not going to let them win again.
Q: How much fun was it winning it all, and what is your best moment of the championship game?
A: I honestly zoned out when I realized we had won when that final whistle blew. I don’t remember taking my shirt off running around the field hugging my teammates nothing.
Q: What is your favorite part of being a member of the team?
A: The bond and relationship we all have, we are super close as a team, and thats one of the main reasons we won.
Q: What set your team apart from all the other teams across the country you competed against?
A: The amount of time we have played together than any other team.

A: Messi
