UTRGV to Unveil Vaqueros Performance Center Sept. 19
EDINBURG, Texas – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will officially unveil the new Vaqueros Performance Center (VPC) to the public on Friday, Sept. 19, at 10 a.m.
The event will begin with a press conference featuring UTRGV President Dr. Guy Bailey, Senior Vice President and Director of Athletics Chasse Conque, and Head Football Coach Travis Bush. Following remarks, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the facility.
The VPC is a more than 45,000-square-foot complex designed to serve as the home of the Vaqueros football program while also supporting multiple athletic teams across campus. It includes state-of-the-art weight training equipment, academic support spaces, and advanced sports medicine facilities.
The center also features two practice fields—one natural grass and one synthetic turf, identical to the surface at Robert & Janet Vackar Stadium. The turf field is striped for both football and soccer, expanding its utility for student-athletes.
The Vaqueros Performance Center is located north of the UTRGV Baseball Stadium, across from the left field wall. Parking will be available in the large lot behind the baseball stadium’s center field wall, accessible from Elizabeth and Robert Streets.
The unveiling marks another milestone in UTRGV’s growing athletics program and its commitment to providing top-tier resources for student-athletes.
