UTRGV Swimming & Diving Defeated by Idaho

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s swimming and diving program was defeated by Western Athletic Conference (WAC) foe Idaho 222 – 72 Saturday at the UI Swim Center.

Junior Delaney Murphy shined for the Vaqueros after picking up an event win in the 1-meter springboard and second in the 3-meter springboard. In the 500 freestyle, the Vaqueros took the top three spots as sophomore Chloe Siegrist finished first, sophomore AJ Rogers finished second, and a season best performance by freshman Abygail Martinez earned third. In the 200 freestyle, freshmen Ida Rudelius and Madiana Lofgren turned in top three performances as they finished in second and third, respectively.

Senior Elisa Davila picked up a season best in the 50 freestyle, sophomore Hailey Garcia-Rivas swam a season best in the 200 backstroke, and freshman Abygail Martinez hit a new season best in the 500 freestyle. Up next, the Vaqueros will prepare for the 2025 WAC Swimming & Diving Championships taking place from Feb. 26-March 1 at the CRWC Natatorium in Houston.
